I always look forward to the Golden Globes because of its playful spirit, and last night’s was no disappointment.
Jamie Foxx and Jonah Hill tried to be funny – and failed miserably. Host Ricky Gervais proved to everyone (including Mel Gibson) that he is fearless. Can we talk about that Ben Affleck crack? Once a cheater, always a cheater. JLaw and Amy Schumer are still besties. Taraji P. Henson tossed her cookies to the crowd, which made me hungry and want to stray from my diet. And Sylvester Stallone took home a well-deserved win. I’d always complain when my trainer would make me run up and down the art museum steps in college, but today, maybe I’ll do a few sets in Rocky’s honor. Or not.
Jane Fonda looked about as amused as the lady at McDonald’s was when I asked for more napkins. In the words of Billy Madison, “What’s up her butt?” Anyone who starred in a movie titled “Monster-in-Law” and showed up in a cake topper dress has no right to have such a ‘tude.
Heading into the Globes red carpet, I was hoping black lace, romantic ruffles (so ethereal!) and florals would be trending since they were all over the runways.

Rachel McAdams’ floral Lanvin was one of my favorites. It takes a brave actress to pull off florals, but she wore them well.
Alicia Vikander (who’s dating Michael Fassbender – lucky!) is my new favorite for awards season. She loves a risk and showed UP in a white ruffled Louis Vuitton gown. Zendaya also shut it down in a ruffled Marchesa. Unfortunately, this didn’t photograph as well as it looked in person. Still, stunning.

I can’t wait to see how many Rooney Mara DIY braid tutorials make it to YouTube.
Stop trying to make bumpits happen, Katy Perry, because they’re not going to happen!!!
When bad side part happens to good people. Looking at you, Channing Tatum.

I know sequins are crowd pleasers and I thought I had seen enough on NYE – until Kate Bosworth took the carpet looking like a literal angel. And Olivia Wilde (can’t wait for the Vinyl premier on HBO). And Brie Larson – who was appropriately dressed like a globe in Calvin Klein to accept her award for best actress.

Just like every Adele song (with the exception of “Hello”), I’ve never met a Zac Posen dress that I’ve liked. Sorry, not sorry. Your dog’s still cute, Zac.
I was left feeling puzzled by Natalie Dormer, JLo and Kate Hudson’s looks. Dormer looks great in red, just not that dress. You guys know I love me some mustard, but JLo’s gown looked a bit tired, no? The two-piece Michael Kors that Kate wore was definitely gorgeous, I just sort of wanted more. What did you all think?!

Lingering thought: Why did Miss Golden Globe aka Jamie Foxx’s daughter fuss with her dress the entire evening?
Until next time…
