My NYFW Diary: Spring/Summer 2017

I always prefer September fashion week to the February shows (remember the record low temps six months ago?) mainly because I can wear cute shoes without the threat of frostbite. With the humidity at a peak this week, I took full advantage of dressing for the warm weather. What’s great about the upcoming season is that the floral maxis we (and the entire cast of Bachelor in Paradise) all loved wearing so much aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Floral prints and long, casual gowns were all over the runways for Spring/Summer 2017 and can be easily transitioned and styled into your Fall/Winter 2016 wardrobe!

I had the best time capturing my NYFW experience via Instagram and Snapchat. Here are some of the highlights in case you missed out:

Day 1: September 8
I arrived slightly more than “fashionably late” to the Fashion Palette show as the traffic to Chelsea Piers was legit insane. As I was walking in, I bumped into Natalie and Olivia from E!’s WAGS. Their lashes are even more beautiful in person and both could not have been nicer. The giant flowers the models wore in their hair stole the show for me.

After bonding with a dog on the street – seriously, this dog just stared at me for a solid five minutes – I went to The Clocktower at The New York EDITION Hotel for dinner. After a failed attempt at showing off my pool shark skills in the billiard room, we were seated. By now, you should know I’m a french fry connoisseur and Stephen Starr never disappoints, so next time you’re in NYC, I highly suggest checking this place out – for the food, the spiraling staircase, and their collection of black and white vintage photos.

Day 2: September 9
I was happy to have a slow day on Friday and just hang in Chelsea and FINALLY binge-watch Stranger Things. If you have not started this on Netflix yet, you must. Not to brag or anything, but I pretty much solved the show after episode 3. Not to mention, the little boy with the lisp is such a gem.

Day 3: September 10
I started my Saturday off at Skylight Clarkson Sq for the Dan Liu show. It was a tad too hot out for the outfit I had planned, so I wore my Day 1 outfit instead – shh!!! While I loved that I was seated front row and across from a huge beauty blogger from Hong Kong, I have to admit, I wasn’t too keen on the collection. Nothing seemed to fit properly on the models and the shoes were a bit tacky.

Next up was Kyboe! at the Skylight at Moynihan Station. The Arc is always my favorite venue to attend fashion shows mainly because there is always so much action happening – E!’s Fashion Police was filming a segment which was super fun to see. The paparazzi are like no other here and the street style photogs really make a no one feel like a someone (if you’re wearing a lavish outfit). It’s a cool experience.

Kyboe! was by far my favorite show of the week. The models really got creative posing with the watches each time they came down the runway. One guy even did “The Dab.”

My cousins and I checked into The Marlton in the West Village (Julie Andrews used to live here!) for a mini-staycation. If you saw my snaps from the night (username: ihateheels), I’m sure you saw we had zero fun at all.

Day 4: September 11
NYFW got the best of me and I opted out of two shows on Sunday to spend some quality time with my family. We took a stroll through the Museum of Sex. My favorite part was probably the bounce house of giant boobs. I caved and got two slices at Broadway Pizza for lunch – worth it.

While heading back to the hotel, we passed by a psychic and decided to get our palms read. This is something I swore I would never do, but I was looking for a little clarity when it came to certain subjects, so I went for it. The psychic basically told me that I have terrible health, will move by choice this coming year, and am talking to someone who is “no good for me”, so I interpreted that as I’m most likely going to die young and never find love, haha.

That night we went to the Art Hearts Fashion mixer for a little mingling and then to Black Tap for milkshakes. These things are famous for being massive, so when I say one was more than enough for three people, it was way more than enough. And delicious.

Day 5: September 12
I had my last two shows before heading home late Monday evening, both at Skylight Clarkson Sq. Irina Vitjaz showcased the most beautiful silk chiffon gowns and Leanne Marshall got me excited for the Emmy Awards’ red carpet this Sunday! I was seated behind Stephanie and Cary from The Real Housewives of Dallas and Summer Rae from Total Divas at the Leanne Marshall show. Also in attendance were Madison Beer, Miss New York, Arden Cho and a member of Fifth Harmony. It’s always a cool thing when worlds collide. Only at fashion week!
